Hoodlum Trailer – Directed by Bill Duke and starring Laurence Fishburne, Tim Roth, Andy Garcia, Chi McBride, Clarence Williams III. The film gives a fictionalized account of the gang war between the Italian/Jewish mafia alliance and the black gangsters of Harlem that took place in the late 1920s and early 1930s.
THE BIGGEST MISCONCEPTION about the 1970s there wasn't MURDERING in African American communities because EVERYBODY was eating from PULLING TABS (lucrative numbers game.) because my GRANDMOTHER (LOVE) was the QUEEN. *And MY OPINION the CRACK EPIDEMIC in the 80s destroyed all that PURPOSELY!!! So me and my little KINFOLK was SCHOOLED time we CAME OUT THE WOMB. So what could you POSSIBLY SCHOOL ME or TELL ME? I kept all that to myself ONLY ON A NEED TO KNOW BASIS especially during TEACHING MOMENTS. WE ALL HAVE SECRETS…….
Remembering Clarence Williams III (1939-2021), who played 'Bub' Hewlett in Hoodlum. Williams is best known for playing Lincoln Hayes in The Mod Squad from 1968 to 1973, and "Francis L", Prince's self-destructive father in Purple Rain.
Hoodlum is the name of the movie but knowing about Madame Queen , Bumpy Johnson,Dutch Shultz, Mr.Luciano,and the remaining cast does not help you to remember the name of the movie Hoodlum.
If you watch the movie kerry Washington is an extra at the beginning watching them beat the people up at the store after bumpy gets out of jail.
