my boss at my college record store turned me on to this album, as he played it nearly every day. Needless to say, it's remained in my collection, and earned play time ever since.
One of my favorite these guys had talent. I’m here with my grandson passing this music on that’s even Donovan’s version which is great as well actually I’ve seen these artist in separate venue each performing excellently. Keep playing on dude.
I love this and it's so funken good Steven Stills is so awesome of a artist everything in his career and every group he's been in and everytime he's simply amazing
There was a record store on Main st and I would stop in on Saturday afternoon. The guy running the shop would always be playing albums over the store stereo system. His picks would often lead to conversations and sometimes a purchase. There was a steady stream of folks walking in asking for whats new and purchasing albums. Also, the store keeper would often play an album side if I was interested in the album. This album was one of them along with a Wes Montgomery / Jimmy Smith album.
Much (much) respect for Al Kooper as a producer and music industry exec. Not so much as an artist tho the Super Session project gave us some great Bloomfield guitar on other songs. Much (much) respect for Steve Stills as an artist/acoustic guitarist, songwriter and producer..but not for the meandering electric guitar here. I get that he came in on zero notice after Bloomfield went MIA, but there’s still little going on in his playing on this. Stills himself recently said he didn’t become a good electric guitarist until decades after the 1960s. I agree. Harvey Brooks is great here.
checking out some new sounds on my synth I began playing this song, I kept thinking there was chord change up in a bridge or something. So I kept pondering where I had heard this sound. Got out my ax, then remembered Season of the Witch. But was sure I first heard it by Traffic. Wrong. I just wanted to hear the version I remembered. Then stumbled on these guys, I loved them in the various projects they were involved in. But couldn't remember them doing this. Gave it a listen, and sure enough it came back through the purple haze of the day. So good!! Here come the horns…awesome…now wawa…
One of the five greatest albums ever produced! Bloomfield on side one, Stills on side two, Kooper on both. I’d bet the ranch Steve Winwood heard this and would have loved to have been a part of it. Season of the Witch, but even more subtle, Cut Two: Stop.

Who play the bass guitar ?
a splendor, what more can I say? Kooper is a genius
