I had a few No Way moments making this one when I discovered some of the classic hip hop tracks that Q-Tip has produced. 3 amazing Mobb Deep tracks from The Infamous are the ones that blew me away.

Have a listen and let me know what you think.

Lots of people saying Q-Tip didn’t produce the Mobb Deep tracks and several others. Here’s the proof he did. Give Up The Goods 1995 release credits The Abstract aka Q-Tip as the producer https://www.discogs.com/master/773504-Mobb-Deep-Give-Up-The-Goods-Just-Step

Temperature’s Rising and Drink Away The Pain also list The Abstract as the producer https://www.discogs.com/master/46381-Mobb-Deep-The-Infamous

Let’s Ride, Vivrant Thing and Breathe And Stop produced by J Dilla and Q-Tip https://www.discogs.com/master/46257-Q-Tip-Lets-Ride

  2. "Let's Ride" and "Breathe And Stop" were both Dilla. They share billing in the liner notes, but Dilla to my knowledge did most of the heavy lifting on that album, save for the two DJ Scratch cuts, "Vivrant Thing," and the Korn collabo.

  3. Some of the production credits are not correct on here. Tip did not produce the following which were all produced by J Dilla:
    1. Vivrant thang
    2. Let's ride
    3. Breath and Stop

  4. Kids these days never heard of Qtip because he actually raps about relevant things in life and relatable situations. I think a person could dance to his Accapellas. If you got a Qtip Accapellas, play it and I bet you see my point.

  5. I grew up in the Bronx with many legendary rap stars. Disco Fever, Exctasy Garage, T-Connection, Harlem World, Bronx River….You name it, I was there. Many of the people who made rap what it is today, are still my friends to this very day. That being said, there should nothing impressive about about someone who grabs someone else's hard work, samples it, and creates an instant hit! I am guilty of it myself, so I can't front, but today I understand what this really means. For many years, from LA to NY to Miami, to Chicago, I worked in the studio with many artists, and later, when it came to cutting my own record, I was right there sampling beats and hooks just like them. At the time, I was young and I did not think about the implications. However, over the years, and after seeing how the original artists were screwed out of money because of a legal loophole that took years to fix, I became realistic about sampling and what it did to original artists; many of whom died broke and penniless….. Broke and penniless even while other people were making millions using their origianl content and property. And thatsbthe difference….I eventually understood sampling for what it was, but these artists still defend sampling to this day. I remedied this situation by eventually becoming a self-taught, but accomplished, musician who now plays drums, guitar, bass and piano. If I wanted a certain sound, then I learned to play the instrument that created that sound! And, when I go into a studio today, I know that any work being recorded is all original. It's easy to sample, but try actually creating a song from scratch! This is how Grammys are truly earned! Look, I'm not trying to be a pebble in a shoe, but the reality is that when an original creator and artists is not even being acknowledged, much less paid, then something is broken. Q-Tip is not a genius….he's just a dude who rode on the backs of real geniuses and called their work his own. And just for clarity, some rap artists, even Q-Tip, will credit himself as an artist who pays original creators, but Q-Tip only paid because he was sued! That's all I have to say about to this and I will not debate this undebateable topic.
