Jennifer Hudson did a good rendition of this in the movie Respect. I wasn't really keen on the movie, but the second half was slightly better. I am not the biggest fan of Jennifer Hudson but she did quite a good job on some of the songs.
The documentary left us speechless…. So so beautiful, moving and inspirational. I just saw the movie starring Jennifer Hudson about her life last night. She was a strong and brave lady. Thank you Ms. Franklin for the priceless gift of your voice to us, may you rest in peace.
This documentary proved to be a disappointment. It was shot by a filmmaker who had never filmed a musical and didn’t get around to syncing the music with the action. Efforts to do this years after the filming failed, something made clear at several points. The recording, Amazing Grace, that came from this event is far superior to the film. It’s good to have this for the record, but there are far better live performances than this doc.
saw it. ugly cried several times. felt the presence of the divine for the first time since losing my religious faith. from the crying choir to her father speaking of her with such devotion, from everyone gobsmacked by her singing, this is nothing short of a life-saving movie.
Hours ago I was on the worst flight of my life. Plane shaking, people scared screaming..what kept me somewhat calm? Watching this excellent documentary that moved me to tears when it was over
