Man, the so-called "hardcores" smashed this record! But I loved this. And definitely would smash most of the tracks, today! Oh, by the way, Kane just got a Key to Brooklyn, from the Borough President…..!
lookin back, this song is better than we gave it credit for back then. As many people said, we were beginning to listen to gangster rap. Now, just listening to it as a stand alone rap song and not measuring it against gangster rap, we see that is is a cool joint wit a cool message. And we now know the effects gangster rap had on the culture. We slept on Kane. This was a smooth joint.
Love BDK…one of the best ever and one of the Rap Gods during the Silver Age of Rap in the late 80s. However it is disappointing to see how some of these rap icons tried to change their styles to appease the trends of the time. Lots of iconic rappers did the same with similar results. The industry pushed them to be something they weren't. This song is a perfect example of that.
Man at 3:44 is wearing an original FUBU t shirt! Lol

Back when rap had meaning, and rappers had talent.

this was when BDK was falling off as people were starting to listen to hardcore gangster rap. The song failed and BDK dissapeared soon after.
