In this classic sketch, James Brown (Eddie Murphy) sings about a hot tub in his typical soul style before disrobing and getting into the water. [Season 9, 1983]

Between this and Buckwheat Sings, Eddie Murphy makes us burst out laughing every single time. STILL funny decades later.
Remember, when Eddie Murphey decided to make his own music, he didnt imitate a single one of these legends. He instead decided to sing with an incredibly weak, nasally voice that nobody liked.
This and the Jamaican Reggie band singing kill the white people. My two favorites.
Great coverage, Sunny! I came out with the feeling you actually cared, and even gave thoughtful suggestions for a possible turnaround in his life.
That was refreshing, seeing that it's easy to kick Nikocado around. He's unhappy and suffering, and has the self-awareness to show it.
His being prone to drama isn't out of malice. I don't watch his content, but understand he has a number of virtues, including a great ability to narrate his life.
Anyway, my compliments for pushing against all the peer pressure and showing his situation in a neutral way that seems even compassionate compared to the others.
This is by far the best James Brown song that he never wrote or sang himself.
I'd put it in any of his "best somgs" compilation.
Gonna get in da hut-tub, Ahhhh to hut in the hut-tub!! ☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺
"Gon get in the hot tub Aowwww, too hot'… Classic Eddie.
Full of water
"Ooooh, too hot in da hot tub…"
One of Eddie Murphy's funnier SNL skits. Eddie is one of our living comedic legends!
Came here after seeing Eddie Murphy on Jimmy Fallon…
Gonna get in the water!!!
His opening counting down is Buckwheat.
some things are always funny and never get old. Heyyyyyyy
I love how they just casually got THE Michael Brecker to be in this one off hot tub skit as a background player. Priceless
Eddie made snl what it is
The Eddie Murphy years was when I started watching the show live on Saturday night, I was too young during the original cast era. My grandmother would let me stay up as long as I got up for church Sunday morning. Eddie was amazing on SNL.
I'm 47 and I saw this when I was 12 years old…was the funniest thing I ever saw.
It was a bit sad to me sharing this video with my Gen Z coworkers (who did think it was funny) don't get the full comedy because they had no idea who James Brown was nor had they seen any of his performances. I didn't even bother to explain the robe.
This was the raw and uncut Eddie
People are always saying the first season of SNL was the best. They are WRONG! The best seasons were the ones with Eddie fucking Murphy!
THIS IS HISTORICAL COMEDY
Not nice,…one day when your old the same should befall allof you.
This sketch was unique. ❤❤❤
