Bah Gawd, listen to what he could do. I'm so glad I bumped into this today, becoming reacquainted with his talent & large volume of work. His voice was as distinct, powerful, and moving as Janis'. Thank goodnes we got to enjoy him for so long. Joe Cocker came from the first generation that looks and strange mannerisms did not matter. You didn't have to have a pretty smile, nor have the moves. But if you had a powerful talent that moved people, they'd be happy to have you at the Metropol in Berlin, or at Prince Alpert Hall 8 times. He only moved like that when he was performing. Many of the previous generation at first thought he was a 'spastic', strange, or even crazy. He didn't play an instrument, but he moved at times like he was playing one. I always thought that his movements were him feeling the music. It moved him. We all know about feeling music. He felt the music and moved to it. Someone said he was playing the air guitar.
