1985 i was about 15yrs old when LL was about 16yrs old.We look totally different back then vs now in 2024.I saw a picture of myself back then.I didn't realize how cute and handsome i really was.My skin tone was evenly smooth without no bags under my eyes.I had alot of baby hairs.
You gotta be hungry if you want your dreams to come true. All these guys had to go out their way to hey signed for the most part. That’s what I got out of this.
Before rap was even played on radio during the day or week. This was in New York. Before rap was on MTV. You could only hear rap on Friday nights and weekends during the evening. No social media or internet. The only way you saw your favorite artist was a poster, show if you were lucky, or the tape or CD. That’s why LL was a legend. There was a number of people who heard him, and didn’t even know what he looked like. It wasn’t until BAD came out that people started seeing him globally and saw how he looked. People today take this for granted. Every one can just google their favorite star. This wasn’t possible in the early 80’s.
Sugarhill and Enjoy was doing him a favor by rejecting him because their template for how music was being done was becoming quickly outdated. Rick Rubin was more modern and updated at that time.
Those days if you want to be recognized in the game you had to speak proper hello cool just a legend salute I'm listening to him since I was a kid in the 80s
