Missed in all this talk about both this phenomenal song and THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER is the fact that the movie TROUBLE MAN is an unsung masterpiece.
I graduated public high school in Detroit in 1969, went to Wayne St. for 2 years. I was there when it all went down. Robin Seymore, CKLW, Soupy Sales, and Motown. It was a special time to be in Detroit.
Gaye spent his entire life vying for the love of his father. A love that he would never receive. Marvin Gay Sr. was an eccentric Pentecostal minister that would sometimes wear his wives clothes in the presence of Marvin which was deeply embarrassing. Gaye admitted that he added the "E" to his last name to avoid references to him being homosexual.
This is easily one of my favorite songs, something about it puts me in such an amazing mood. And strongly reminds me of captain america the winter soldier and the falcon and the winter soldier lol. So great.
My mother was a fan of Marvin Gaye and as a young child so was I. She would play this song on her stereo, and I would sing along to this song, I knew this song was good when moma played it move then one time. What’s going on was my favorite Marvin Gaye album.
This is a good album, it didnt get the radio play due to politics with in the rap element of hip hop. Which goes to show how influenced people have been since people like diddy, dash, j prince etc came in, threw money to gain influence weak minds to believe what they were listening to was hip hop. We went from wu tang to Dipset?? Really ? People claim dispet were on point? It's a real drop of standards from wu – to muppets like Jim Jones
Every time I hear this I think about the movie 4 brothers
