  1. Actually "Mr T." from show " The A Team" , movie "Dc Cab" and from the city Chicago was the first to sport massive amounts of Gold and tell you he was representing his African Accessory through his look!!! 82-83!!!! Very knowledgeable and generous. If anyone can claim "The God" of Rappin/Mc'n its Rakim hes the greatest lyricist period.

  2. A little off topic but Guru doesn’t get enough credit either. Maybe cause he wasn’t from the 5 boroughs? I’d love to see a documentary on Guru as well.

  3. 1986 my boy john and me was in new york hanging out by central park and fresh fest started rocking we turned around started heading towards the music and it was eric b and rakim it was one of the best shows i ever attended there was all kind of hip hop artist there by their sound was the best we sat way in the back and straight lost our mind the hottest shit i heard i say and my boy was yo we got to get a copy of that shit so we started buying cassettes trying to figure out who they were ever since i was hooked the god emcee forever

  4. The music changed in '86 with Ced Gee and Ultra Magnetic, and his production with BDP and KRS1 and of course Marley ' sound. Btw, I don't believe Eric B. because the sound on 'My Melody' is found throughout Juice Crew hits, 'The Bridge', 'Down By Law', 'Juice Crew Allstars', Biz and Craig G.

  5. I went to elementary school in wyandanch…I remember Rakim from school back when we were 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades…then straight path in the 4th grade and after that I was off to ss & methodius in Deer Park and after high school i went in the Army…what i recall of Rakim back then was he was chill before kids new what the hell that was at that age. Then I joined the military and was stationed in Germany and that "check out my melody" played in the club and i wanted to know who the artist was because that beat and his style was groundbreaking and made you realize that this style of rap will set it off for the music industry. when i understood it was the cool little bruh i knew in grade school it made me proud that someone from our little Wyandanch community is now an ICON that has influenced the music industry forever.

  6. Tha God was New York all day "I go to Queens for Queens and get the boom from Brooklyn, make money in Manhattan and never been tooken, go Uptown to the Bronx and Boogie Down real Strong on the Island recoup and lay around " – know-the-ledge
