Rare P-Funk Promo Clips & Interview 1980

Rare P-Funk promo clips from 1980 and an “interview” with Philippe Wynne, Bootsy Collins, George Clinton, Maceo Parker and Ron Ford.

“It’s not logical, it’s not logical” 3:38. It’s more logical to me than most of the nonsense going around today. All this funky craziness makes absolutely perfect sense. Free your mind and your ass will follow, as you dance your way out of your constrictions…

One World Under a Groove!

Let’s burn down the ghettos of our minds and Think! It Ain’t Illegal Yet!

The handshake at 6:16 shows the special bond between the Lennon-McCartney of funk music.

  1. People forget that funk music was the predecessor of West Coast hip hop and G-Funk. So, a lot of west coast rappers were inspired by this funk musicians because funk music spoke about ghetto lifestyle, women, etc.

  2. THESE NIGGAAHS FUCKED UP!JAMES BROWN WOULD FIRE YO ASS …..ON THE SPOT….GEORGE CLINTON DONT GIVE A GOOD DAMB AS LONG AS YOU MAKE MONEY….WHAT BAMD YOU EVER KNOW WHERE A MUFFUKKKA COME ON STAGE WEARING A DIAPER, BOOTS AND A GUITAR.

  3. Hey interviewer, relax.
Don't let the elephant trunk fool you, George is the conductor of this orchestra. Free your mind and the jams will follow. If you hear any noise, it's probably just him and the boys. And all that is good is nasty.
So, put a glide in your stride and and a dip in your hip and he'll lead you up to the mothership. Fly on, it's time to move on.

  4. lol the interviewer was so annoyed, saying all these passive-aggressive comments to george and the others. He must be a clone of Sir Nose or Rumpofsteelskin in disguise.

And idk why this version of sir nose cracks me up so much.

  5. Man this is fantastic, never seen this stuff before! To see George, Bootsy and those guys still in their prime (or close to the end of it, at least) brings back memories. P-Funk filled my parent's household when I was a 17 y.o. kid; that's what we mostly listened to. Thanks for posting this magnificent footage!

  6. that reporter was like, "what da hell" I understand what funk is but their personas were weird to me.. Philippe looked out of place hanging with them… he should've stayed with the Spinners..
