Many in New York were disappointed when they first watched the video of this 1984 hip-hop classic by everyone’s favorite future PhD psychologist (now believed to be a hoax)–usually broadcast on “Video Music Box”–because the audio wasn’t the version they had heard on the radio. Instead, it was the inferior rerecorded version that was on the flip side of the 12-inch single because of the lawsuit that followed the original’s release, one of the greatest dis records of all time. This mash-up offers a tantalizing possibility of what could have been.
A big shout-out goes to those who posted the original elements that made this video possible.
