The Day Police Dropped a Bomb On Philadelphia | I Was There

In this episode of “I Was There”, VICE meets with Ramona Africa, one of the only survivors of the police bombing in a residential neighborhood of Philadelphia in 1985. The bombing was a result of a conflict between the Philadelphia police department and the MOVE organization, the black liberation group in which Ramona belonged. The targeted house was the headquarters of the MOVE group, which had garnered complaints from their neighbors in the predominantly Black neighborhood.

  1. I, as many of you are, am learning infinitely more about American history these days than I ever did in school. In an effort to whitewash our history to make it more palatable and inspiring stories like this get swept under the rug leaving we the people divorced from our own history. The thing of it is, the more I learn about the injustices committed in this country's past the more inspired I feel because now I know for every step of the way there have been Americans standing up for what's right.

  2. The police deparment was used as localised military to drop an actual bomb on citizens men, women and children they viewed as adversarial and unhoused 250 people in the process. The Move group in the house bombed consisted of 13 people? This was after Civil Rights and before the Patriot Act. They shat upon the Constitution to gain? Right, because they could. I'm not ok with any of this and I see a pattern I have my own tragic story involving race and gender and pure disregard for the constitution regardless of race and gender same or otherwise. Suddenly, I'm reminded of Robin Williams and his stand up piece about Fuckitol. Right. Sprechen sie deutsch? Ich spreche englisch auch ein bisschen Deutsch und die verschiedenen. Ich spreche und niederlandisch not well of course. leave me be .

  3. Police are still the most evil , and creators of crime , and are anti freedom fighters , no military allowed for civilian force so instead militarized police is what you get , police simply think based on speculation and fear ! Pure worshipers of darkness and evil !
