Yo, I went to high school with Malik. Rode the same bus, had the same classes before he moved to Saudi, came back and got on. He had lyrics at 14, RIP Malik.

“Rocking on the microphone I do this well”.
I’m listening to Black Thoughts book, 7 years. The intro used the instrumental to this song. I forgot how dope this song was. Searched YouTube and came across this video.
I never saw this video until today. This video is incredible. The imagery; the Roots are on rooftops elevating the art form of hip hop while a larger than life Roy Ayers looks in from on high, like the God of vibes, urging the Roots to push hip hop even higher. Malik B was peerless, rest in power. This is like a 90s time machine right here, incredible!
Are they channeling?
