  1. truly wonderful version. gorgeous vocals. IMO falls short of being THE definitive version because it reduces the afro-cuban 6/8 clave cross-rhythms to a more standardised 4/4 hip-hop/r&b beat. but none the less delightful for all that. [compare original version by Mondo Santamaria with John Coltrane's own version which treats ti as a jazz waltz].

  2. after RM of BTS mentioned how he came up with the idea of featuring erykah badu after listening this song and mentioned her as " she is a king of her own castle" I couldn't stop myself to search and listen to her

  3. Dream of a land my soul is from
I hear a hand stroke on the drum
    Shades of delight
    Cocoa hue
    Rich as the night
    Afro blue
    Elegant boy
    Beautiful girl
    Dancing for joy
    Delicate whirl
    Shades of delight
    Cocoa hue
    Rich as the night
    Afro blue
Two young lovers dance face to face
    With undulating grace
    They gently sway
    Then slip away
    To some secluded place
Dream of a land my soul is from
I hear a hand stroke on the drum
    Shades of delight
    Cocoa hue
    Rich as the night
    Afro blue

  4. I have all of Badu's albums, absolutely one of my favorite neo-soul artists of all time. First heard Glasper doing Nirvana's "Come As You Are."
Love 'Trane's version on Live at Birdland and Abbey Lincoln's version, but never heard this. WOW! Blown away! Floating effortlessly and vibing us all into a pleasant good feeling.
