I was there at that show. Great show. One of the opening acts was Dana Dane, an artist who came out when I was very young and not into hip hop, so I was not familiar with him. While he was performing, I was vibing to it. No problem. After his performance however, I was in a dilemma. My girlfriend's mother lives in the Bronx and told me I could crash there after the show before I leave in the morning. I saw that my phone was losing charge fast. She told me to call after the show in order to catch her before she goes to sleep. If I didn't, Im out of luck. I forgot to bring a portable charger so I started looking for a place to charge it. I ended up going to the left side of the venue, where the artist were, although I didnt know it at first. I'm calmly but intensely looking for a socket to use when I turned to my right and behind me about 100 feet away was Dana Dane. When I turned around for literally 1 second, I just so happen to catch eye contact with him, scanning the area for a socket. When I turned back to the left, I hear him say to a female that I was "one of those hating DC niggas." Im like what?! First off not from DC. Second of all I'm not a hater as my close friends will tell you this. Third of all, YOU are the artist why would you worry about someone who is in a real dilemma? He had no idea what was going on and made that unnecessary remark. Now I'm not a hater so I wont bash that man but at the same time, I can't listen to him. He could have gained a new fan with me, not that it matters to him. But instead of not being so sensitive and minding his business he chose to misread a stranger, smh. You dont gain fans by doing that, he only turned me away from him. This is why new yorkers have a reputation fot being sensitive. Wait first before talking and judging people, smh. Peace.
