This is fantastic, to learn how Yo MTV Raps first started. Living in the UK outside of London in 1991, having this was one of the only ways to hear new US Hip Hop as well as put faces to the voices, no internet, and hardly any radio play.
Unfortunately hip-hop hits of a turn for the worst the last 10 years in my opinion it's not about being an MC or being lyrical anymore it's crazy man it just breaks my heart that the art has been taken from the music
Dear: Hip Hop We need your voice we need your strength we need your creativity to start talking about what's going on in this country right now. Please we need you. We all need to take a deep look at what our American President is doing right now to all of us as a people. There's not enough weed or money that can protect us from American President that has sided with American Hate Groups that are now just American Terrorists. I know they say political Hip Hop does not sell but that is so not true, because Hip-Hop has proven to to be the one art form that can shake the world when it stands for something. We have an American POLICE force that has decided that shooting people of color is as easy as shooting plastic ducks at a carnival, now on top we have an American President that has decided that a racist political strategy is the only way to win and we are all being eliminated one by one by one. WE need all artists all DJs producers MCS to say we're not going to do this anymore we are not going backwards, we need the power of Hip-Hop to come back and protect the community and call out hate for what it is. E V I L We need the American Hip-Hop voice to start saying something about what they see from artists who never thought about saying something about what they see around them. I don't feel like going to the club I don't feel like expensive sneakers right now, I feel like we should take a stand against an American president that's going to get us all killed and it's going to be too late for all of us. Hip Hop we need you we are dying out here. One song one video just to say ….. This is our Country as well and we won't let Donald Trump direct us in the path of an American Civil War created by Him for power wealth and greed. Hip Hop We need you. ❇ Music is the most powerful force in this world Hip Hop we need you to be the Superheroes of the people again.

I fucking loved Yo! I ran home from school when I was a kid to watch the videos. That's how I first discovered de la soul, nwa, tribe, PE, kid n' play, queen latifah, 2 live crew, BDP, digital underground, etc.
Let get this shit straight. Here in NYC we didn't need MTV or Yo MTV to see the latest hip hop artist we had Video Music Box, Hot Tracks and Friday Night Videos. The rest of you fools across the country needed Yo MTV Raps
Передача времен моей юности, йоу!)
YouTube is better than MTV or cable TV ever was or could be
In the late-80’s, the only exciting and envelope-pushing thing on MTV was “Yo!”
Rock was mostly in the pits at the time, & Yo was an event every afternoon.
R.I.P., Shock G, from the Digital Underground, 18:50.
@29:29 Ed, Happy Birthday! And remember #Aquarius & #Cancer = #Quincunx
@6:16 Fab Fly Freddy are you #Esu? <3 to wanna go out of the office… <3
I was so blessed to be growing up during that time. What happened?
