Breakin ‘n’ Enterin’ – West Coast Hip Hop Documentary (1983)
Director: Topper Carew
Breakin’ N Enterin’ (Hip-Hop & B-Boying In LA) is a film from 1983 that documented the then nascent LA B-boy scene and inspired Breakin’. It featured many of the players that went on to star in Breakin’ and gave a glimpse at their real lives. Shabba Doo, Boogaloo Shrimp and a very young Ice-T are among those highlighted. And, of course, there is lots of dancing. Unlike the New York scene where the focus was mostly on floor work, West Coast b-boys spent a lot more time Poppin’, Lockin’ and Uprockin’. (Sorry for the poor sound quality).

  1. LA was always so damn wack. Except for popping and locking LA had the worst breakers in the 80s and even worse rappers, like Ice T who has to be the worst rapper of all time. He does like granny rap. A 4-year-old can write lyrics like that. and then the music is beyond ridiculous. Watch Wild Style instead.

  2. 2021, September – remember watching this as a young young kid and being HYPED – so many young kids in this…and everybody was in good shape really – perfect way to burn calories and extra energy lol…but for real tho

  3. some amazing breakers here with great timing and choreography inventing moves so unique to dancing inventing styles like bruce lee invented his own martial arts styles lol
