Don’t say his name.
This September, Oscar® winner Jordan Peele unleashes a fresh take on the blood-chilling urban legend that your friend’s older sibling probably told you about at a sleepover: Candyman. Rising filmmaker Nia DaCosta (Little Woods) directs this contemporary incarnation of the cult classic.
For as long as residents can remember, the housing projects of Chicago’s Cabrini Green neighborhood were terrorized by a word-of-mouth ghost story about a supernatural killer with a hook for a hand, easily summoned by those daring to repeat his name five times into a mirror. In present day, a decade after the last of the Cabrini towers were torn down, visual artist Anthony McCoy (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II; HBO’s Watchmen, Us) and his girlfriend, gallery director Brianna Cartwright (Teyonah Parris; If Beale Street Could Talk, The Photograph), move into a luxury loft condo in Cabrini, now gentrified beyond recognition and inhabited by upwardly mobile millennials.
With Anthony’s painting career on the brink of stalling, a chance encounter with a Cabrini Green old-timer (Colman Domingo; HBO’s Euphoria, Assassination Nation) exposes Anthony to the tragically horrific nature of the true story behind Candyman. Anxious to maintain his status in the Chicago art world, Anthony begins to explore these macabre details in his studio as fresh grist for paintings, unknowingly opening a door to a complex past that unravels his own sanity and unleashes a terrifying wave of violence that puts him on a collision course with destiny.
Universal Pictures presents, from Metro Goldwyn Mayer Pictures and Jordan Peele and Win Rosenfeld’s Monkeypaw Productions, in association with BRON Creative, Candyman. Candyman is directed by DaCosta, and is produced by Ian Cooper (Us), Rosenfeld and Peele. The screenplay is by Peele & Rosenfeld and DaCosta. The film is based on the 1992 film Candyman, written by Bernard Rose, and the short story “The Forbidden” by Clive Barker. The film’s executive producers are David Kern, Aaron L. Gilbert and Jason Cloth.

too much VFX
Without looking up who scored the music, im assuming its the same producer that did "US" I think the "i got five on it" remix for US was way better than this Destinys Child remix.
So i finished this movie and came to watch the trailer after cuz thats how I do things. It looks like the trailer has a lot of scenes that were actually cut from the film? Or are they being held for a director's cut? Whats going on here?
This trailer and this film was more funny than it was scary

Came here after reading online about how Helen's character from the original movie was supposed to be the main villain in this movie instead of Candyman, and that they forgot to remove her from the church scene in the trailer..
Is that really supposed to be her sitting in the right!? Cause if my eyes aren't mistaken, thats a black woman.. Helen was white.
Work of art
This was my first R Rated movie to watch in theaters. This was an awesome movie. Also I saw the old first movie.
Bro my daughter's friend said that candy man kidnapped my her friend so they told people he was real yea it didn't end well with them and the teacher
There are just some type of movies that don't work in this millennium. This is one of them.

subscribers and guest or people that Jordan peele knows say living ouija by Jerry Dean rice ii says remember read and circle your living good book and understandiving Justas christ commandments and lamentations then say mitemite illuminate spiritual warfare by the lord of armies e.u.l.a. how to beat Satan and lucifers menoins and update computer and human cookie.
At 2:06, if you pause it and zoom in, you can see a zombie-like woman sitting in the pew with burnt skin. That's Helen. So lemme get this right. That idiot Nia has so much stuff in trailer 1 and 2 that is a throwback to the 1st candyman. NONE of which were in the movie. Tony Todd said Anthony's name on the 2nd trailer, and he even says 'I heard you're looking for candyman' in the trailer. Helen is in this 1st trailer. That wasn't in the movie either, tony got 9, MAYBE 10 seconds of cgi'd screen time at the very end, only says 2 words. We wait years for a proper candyman reboot/sequel and instead, we received this garbage. Way to go Nia, and Jordan for butchering(pun intended) a classic to the point that the movie makes no sense, nothing to bring back nostalgia from the 1st one, really jenky story, and we got another woke p.o.s. that constantly and stereotypically paints all white people as racists, because the joke, ahem, I meant woke community, loooooves doing that 24/7, like they don't have lives or something? I get that in the original movies they explained that racists from the 1800s made him what he is, that being said, new content takes it waaaay too far and brings that $hit up every chance they can, and then dump on all white people for the actions of the few ACTUAL assholes. Exhibit a: the movie 'you people'. Another piece of $hit.
Garbage woke bull shit, bunch of forced homosexuality and race shit
