Wynton, displaying his "legit" chops in front of the prestigious Eastman Wind Ensemble (where EVERYONE has "legit" chops), one of the most revered ensembles of one of the most respected conservatories in the world… …on one of the bluesiest spirituals in existence. (Hunsberger's arrangement? Kudos.)
thanks very much! – this is such an awsome version and beutiful recording!!
only a little correction: his name is Wynton Marsalis – and here he plays the cornet and is accompanied by the Eastman Wind Ensemble)
I DON'T KNOW WHY MARSSALIS ABANDONED THE CLASSICS HE PERFORMED BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE IN THE WORLD. HAVE
I MISS THE WONDERFUL CONCERTS HE PLAYED IN THE OLD TIMES.

one of the most emotionally based songs without any words! Brought me to tears! No words needed!
Excellent !
You could hear the pathos in his playing. No one can play it like Wynton. I was blessed by his playing.

Once my jazz teacher gave me this album and I tried to quote this song in my improv and kind of butched it up. Then he got mad.
