Ms Lauryn Hill sings Killing Me Softly at Roots Picnic 2023 Afterparty!!
So this whole night was epic! I was on stage with Ms Hill and The Fugees when my afterparty started (I know read it again haha)
Hit the last note, zoomed to the party and shortly after Ms Hill walks in. Show outfit still on and all! So I invited a bunch of friends on stage to sing Killing Me Softly as a tribute to her.
THEN she decides to grab the mic and sing it herself from the balcony! And magic ensued. You could feel the energy in the room. This wasn’t just a normal thing.
What a moment!

I saw her front row at North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam, the Netherlands a couple years ago.. I have seen many artists live but when this woman is in the room, something happens! AMAZING. ♥️
I know everyone in the comments are wishing for her comeback. I was in high school when her solo album came out. I’m 42 now. As far as I’m concerned, her body of work (including Sister Act 2) is near perfect and un-diluted by staying in the rat race. I’ve always heard rumors about her mental health. And they may or may not be true because they tend to label difficult or uncooperative celebrities as crazy. But I hope she’s been living a good life and has been happy as she can be.
She has always been extraordinary but, I cannot quite explain it, her voice sounds better than it has ever. The tone, the resonance, the confidence. PHENOMENAL!!!
Many great talented artists come from Philadelphia. And in 1991 i have found my first Band that i still love today that came from Philadelphia: Boyz 2 Men. And even after, many talented bands appeared and blew my mind and still do! They all are part of my history on earth. And i only can say Thank You! Thank you for making smile, helping me through tough times, cheering me up or simply made me fly in good times!
Have her songs been honored at any awards shows?
