A documentary about the cultue of hip hop. Through interviews with some of hip hops biggst names, the filmmakers attempt to find out why it has become so popular.
People in power allowed rap music to blow up because it made it seem Cool or OK to live a HARD ass life doing Horrible shit to survive… Notice how they slowly but surely Phased OUT ALLLLL the positive rappers… Show me ONE positive rapper in the mainstream that is ACTIVELY trying to change things and put more positive shit out there to the young ones… Not a single one.. Back in the 80s/90s though there was quite a few of them… But the people in power, Specifically BLEW UP the GANGSTER music to glorify that shit and make people in the hood think it was a GOOD thing to live a hard ass life, INSTEAD of listening to music like TUPACS which urged people to form a REVOLUTION and flip the script on them! Yes tupac talked about gangster shit, but if you actually look up ALL his lyrics- youll see his message is CLEAR_ he was calling on everyone to CHANGE and Be Better and Raise Up against the machine… Thats why they had to kill him. He was too big and had too much support. Now, we dont have ANYONE in the industry tryna promote positive changes in our communities…. SLICK MOVE assholes…
Its a damn shame that Big linked up with Puff…. Just imagine if Biggie linked up with Suge/Tupac n them instead of puffys fake ass…. Big woulda been more HIMSELF instead of trying to put out that gangster image. He WASNT that dude. Even his own Mother said he had a nice home life/never was starving in a one room shack that shit is alll FAKE never sold drugs none of that shit… Pac REALLY lived that shit… Pac coulda been the Force in the Front line, Big coulda been the smooth dude on the side- and together they coulda removed ALL the fake ass sellouts from the game… But instead, the SELLOUTS got together and had them both killed so they could totally take over the game… then it became all about Gay Z, Nas, Snoop etc… studio gangsters… sellouts… people that backstabbed their own brothers they grew up with… people that LITERALLY talk about Satanic Rituals in their music and people just think its "Art"… This world is FUCKED up…
This came out in 95 but was pretty much all filmed in 1994…….Suge and Puffy were on good terms…2Pac and BI.IG were friends doing a few concerts together….DPG performing in Queens NY….And then it went to a so called War with East vs West………….This will always be the best rap hip hop Documentary EVER……Hands down!!!
One thing about Russel Rush is: What he shows you is a Hundred percent Him no and if's or buts about it! He gave Rick that Tough Love "I don't want no guns and Drama around me, I got a Rolls. The Only drama I want is Naomi Campbell"
Russels Simmons lisp damn it’s hard to listen to. Other than that I was 13 when this movie came out and loved every moment of it except Russels speaking parts.

I’m only 29 and man, I wish hip hop could have stayed the same.
