Saw the interview he did recently where he explained in depth why he will not and can't go back to his old style of rapping and I couldn't do anything but respect it. He even said he thought Poets palaquin was better than 100 bars.
It's better than 100 bars but it's nowhere near poet laureate II and that's where my issue lies. I don't care about him not rapping off pure ego anymore, it's just his delivery has changed so much and THAT'S what I don't like.
Poet laureate II was scientific rap. It FLOWED. And maybe that's why more credit should be given to Stoupe because I know he did the beats around Canibus' vocals.
Maybe at 48 years old he can't flow like Black Thought still can, or like Em still can or like Crooked and others who came out around the same time as him. That's cool, he's still one of the best to ever do it.
This brings me back to when I was super into lyrical mind opening rap like LCOB. I forgot how they can pull you into the story and how descriptive they can get.

Man why do they keep giving the Boi Can-I-Bus a looped beat all the time. The problem with super lyrical MC's they take the challenge on everytime. Canibus always been one of my favorite rappers. please give him something to rock to. Buckingham palace dope,

This albums aiight. Canibus coulda done better. AZ album, Doe Or Die 2, however is way better than this..
