Lyrics
I put the punch in the kick instead of punching a clock
It’s no wonder that this is timeless
Nights spent sleeping on the floor need a bed or at least a cot
Since his dreams starting to define him
The grind never stopped for the working class fuck a birkin bag
I learned my colors then I had to watch what color shirt I had
Like I concierge I show the way of our concerning past
But everybody can’t come along I come to terms with that
I ain’t never been one to burn bridges or burn a bag
Ironic money turn a man into a island and a friend into a financial advisor
Take a family and divide it in America, the land of the tyrant
Still with the same niggas and that mean the women too
The only thing changed what I paid for the tennis shoe
Like Eminem on stage for he blew, this is living proof
Bad things come in threes, good things come, a few

Few
All the fears we had to run from, and he only want a few things
We went back to where we start from, not the only one
All the fears we had to run from, and he only want a few things
We went back to where we start from, not the only one

Niggas repping blocks like the taxi wars
but the thing about turf is that it never actually grows
I tried to focus on the sprouts like a grocery store
But in the hood shit don’t always go how it supposed to go
So we adjusted like a tailor making alterations
Altercations in the Austin neighborhood was all for paper
Group think swear that it was all contagious how we all complacent
I said fuck it I’m all in like I was off to Vegas
The followed days I grew my dreads like I was part Jamaican
Know the journey waiting is a lonely one, they’ll call him crazy
Because believing in yourself not often celebrated
People projecting a mirror image that is merely hatred
The fear he faces is the same as me I’m peer adjacent
All truth you know I don’t lie, like Shakira shaking
Iridescent people show they colors I assume they true
Bad things come in threes, good things coming soon

Few
and he only want a few things

All the fears we had to run from (run from), and he only want a few things
We went back to where we start from (start from), not the only one
All the fears we had to run from (run from), and he only want a few things
We went back to where we start from
not the only one

[Black Thought verse] [Saba] I tried that invincible shit but the principle is
When it’s niggas defending ya wig it’s a pendulum shift
I tried to spend a lil less like a minimalist
But then I can confess that this gets harder the bigger you get
The rich will get rich the poor get pissed that’s just what it is
We seen everything from the gutter to glitz
Adults in the crib telling the kids to cover they ears
Fight with a youngin and watch they older brothers appear
Like two in the front and one in the rear
The fun subsides when you gotta swallow your anger or stomach your fear
All the money a myth
It’s a sunken abyss
But necessary for the family to have somewhere to live
So you stuck with making decisions more than some wouldn’t get
The baggage that come with the bag hope you not fumbling it
Marathon not a sprint like I’m honoring Nip
When commas the common denominator all the percent
Got us moving to the pacific
In hopes that it would be different
The boat we was on had physics
That left some of us swimming
Don’t ask bout my independence
We not financially literate
Dangle a million dollars
When oxygen was the mission
We just wanna breathe
We been drowning down here for centuries
Black and brown boy identity
Families that depend on me
Art get turn to assembly
Line every line my lineage
Glass half full
The other half was the emptiness
We turned a bunch of nothing to abundance
Few good things

  1. I've been a fan since early 2021 but GETCOMFORTable was my first project to listen to then CFM, then BLP, then Comfort Zone and you have not disappointed me once. You litteraly inspired my style of rap that I do along with Kendrick. Thank you for this masterpiece.

  2. Saba's title tracks are consistently my favorites. Wonder if they're the first or last songs he writes for his projects (like this one and Bucket List)

  3. Does anybody know what sample/sound the initial background synthesized vocals are from??? I swear it’s from something I’ve heard before but I can’t remember it and it’s driving me insane!

  4. "Like Eminem on stage before he blew – this is living Proof…"?
    Oh My God!
Dope bars aside, this album is really something to be cherished. After the first listen I was already in love with it as a body of work. By the second and third, I was convinced that this is going to be one of the better hip-hop albums of '22. Saba is a treasure and should be protected! Artists like him are a breath of fresh air!

  5. I'm never disappointed in his music when I play it I expect a master piece every time and he delivers it to me .I will always cherish the art he puts out , the positive influence and life changing music he puts out for the world to hear . The world needs artist like this man much love to pivot gang cant imagine how excellent the next few projects he creates its

  6. I love who you grew into as an artist Saba. This doesn’t sound like comfort zone, or care for me, but it does. Because it’s a continuation of YOU. Beautiful black music. This will be playing for me for years. Please don’t stop

  7. Saba and Black Thought, I’m shaking. This album is filled to the brim with beauty. I’m so proud, Saba! I listen to Whip every other day and to think of where you are now, and where you are going ….good things coming soon!
