The Biggest Rap Battles | Rules To This Sh!t

Beefing and battling are as old as hip-hop. Lyrics that brag and taunt create conflict between artists, from rap battles to chart-topping hits. But sometimes the insults go too far and clashes can lead to actual violence. This “beefing” can have serious consequences… including death.

As part of Complex’s Get Money initiative, the eight-part series “Rules to This Sh*t” covers the trials and tribulations of embarking on a rap career, with words of wisdom from Common, N.O.R.E., Too $hort, the late Nipsey Hussle, and more.

  1. The east/west beef wasn't just started out of nowhere. Suge's best friend got shot and died at a bday party cuz of Puffy and not to mention the obvious other reason was when Pac got shot at quad studios. That's a legit reason to hate someone. Shoot me or my family and see if you aren't a sworn enemy until you're dead.
These people talking like it just started from word of mouth. No it started with bullets and ended with bullets. The words were a tiny part of it at that point.

  2. Lyrically when you powerful don’t beef cause you will hurt people feelings and if they can’t match Lyrically they will seek to level up physically if you get physical you are telling the public that you are not as good as your opponent talentwise the first to get physical is the first to concede it’s a sign you’re inferior

  3. Well for me,hip pop without beef,is like cooking food without salt and yall know how it’s gone taste like lol.Buh rapp niggas needs to take it easy sometimes yk.

  4. Why did yall put Nipsey as the cover for that title???????? Yall tripping‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️ Nispey is NOT known for "beef".. He's known for uniting the community and driving the people in positivity ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️ STOP BEING CORNY AND USING OUR CULTURE for business gain via infusion ‼️ ITS CLEAR.

  5. Yo why is Domani on these like he's a real MC/rapper…Your dad is TI and you were on his reality show. Everyone knows he is a rich a privileged kid, idk why he is speaking on the game at all. I think privilege has less to do with race and more to do with socio economic status. Domani is out here trying to be cordae and his brother King is riding around with gold teeth and a ski mask on talking about "don't get caught without it" . They wish they were from the streets so bad, but you can't have both, they can grow up poor like I did and I'll take the money their dad made if they wanna trade lives lol
