  1. Love Tim on radio and his mixed with "Streetch Armstoooong is now in your world". That FMF dropping bombs on Friday night me as nd my boys get cases of beer before leaving BX and heading to city. That's when hip hop was full of mcs, djs, beats,Hot 97,98.7 Kiss,Rap Pages, Stretch and Bobbito,Capri,Doo Wop,etc

  2. Excellent tribute ..

I mean Banned From TV is always a knock out the park .. But X wasn't on that joint TW, which you obviously know, but that song was hot as fish grease that summer of '98 and X was on the come up real strong through DefJam lol so I suppose its fair game !!

Damn thinking back, I was buying EVERY single hip-hop album in '98 at 15 yrs old : ) (i.e Mic Geronimo, any and ALL Wu-Tang affilaite member or group Killarmy/Killah Priest/LA the Darkman .. I was buying and listening to them all and just loving what rap/hip-hop was bringin to the table at that time !! I loved reading the inlet booklets with the credits and samples and photography. Capital Punishment/N.O.R.E./It's Dark and Hell is Hot were always in rotation in my Aiwa 3 cd joint as a kid lol .. Later had turntables in h.s. and rebought all the albums no hesitation .. Still have 3 crates with the real goods i.e. Pete Rock and CL Smooth and some nice rarities ..

Anyway, I'm admittingly getting way off subject of DMX here lol with my love and past of hip-hop … But it's hard not to look back sometimes .. Those really were some incredible times .. Oh man listenin to 'War Report' @ Strawberries in-store Downtown Boston, MA before going to a Red Sox game with my old man @ Fenway back in '97 .. I'll never forget hearing that 4 the 1st time as well .. I was able to score the tape and was enamored with the whole album but even as a 14 yr old .. That production was A-1 and on another level for that time .. However ..

DMX had become such a presence it was unbelivable .. I remember the "Get at Me Dog" cd single being fully in stock at my local Sam Goody and even downtown record shop to being completely gone within the 1st week back at school in '98 .. He just brought it on the mic and could also perform Live without even changing anything about his routine .. (his Woodstock performance of 'Fuckin Wit D' has AGED VERY WELL !!!)

I mean we had mc's that could get us hype .. Ice Cube / Rakim / KRS .. But this guy literally made me throw my weights up in the basement 4x the amount I shoulda been benching as a young chap lol .. Just adrenaline and hype and rage and emotion all in one .. Guy was special ..

I know it would've been painful lol but would've liked to hear 'Who's Next' off Clue's pt.2 in this mix .. That is a f'n banger

Also there's about half dozen tracks from 'The Great Depression' that over the years I've really come to fruition as some of my fav X tracks ..

  3. Was a the Tunnel when X came out on Sunday night with LOX and shot "Get At Me Dog". I'm from Bx so my boys in YO told me little about him but nobodycouldve prepared us for this. RIP X- MAN Schol St loves you dog
