This album was largely panned at the time: there really weren't really any precedents for the type of personal stream of consciousness lyricism…Marvin really led the way, dismantling the idea that an artist can only tell his story indirectly through universalized/generalized lyrics… but even this song has more structure and rhyme schemes than it's given credit for. Genius, needless to say

  2. I cnt believe this was his lowest charting album , i guess in the 70’s they just wanted to dance and make love to music they couldn’t handle the real, this is like a usher confessions album he ain’t holding nun back and the beats hard
